About us

For over 70 years, Willems Bakeries has been producing the authentic Belgian speculoos in various forms. What began in 1955 with our first tins of speculoos, has grown into a success story that extends far beyond Belgium's borders.

Local knowledge, international expertise

As part of Lotus Bakeries, Willems Bakeries today guarantees speculoos of the highest quality, remaining true to the unique caramelised taste of real Belgian speculoos. Together with our customers, we look for the best addition to their range and the best packaging solution for their needs.

Our authenticity makes the difference

Every speculoos that comes out of our ovens is the result of our endless respect for the original taste, in which quality and recognisability merge.

Loved for its taste

Blind taste tests rate the speculoos of Willems Bakeries the best of all private labels. No competitor comes closer to the taste of the premium brand.

Expertise across borders

Willems Bakeries is rooted locally in Flanders but relies on the international foundation of Lotus Bakeries.

Always the right solution

Together with our international customers, we look for the best possible design and packaging solutions.

Our history

2026

With a strong position in several countries, Willems continues to expand across borders. It does so under the new name Willems Bakeries. A different name, but still baked with the same pride as in 1950.

2013

Willems Biscuits becomes part of Lotus Bakeries. The Willems speculoos holds on to its own character: production remains deliberately separate from that of Lotus.

2004

Growing success calls for more space. Production moves from Ertvelde to Eeklo, still in the heart of East Flanders.

1990

The second generation takes over. Chris and Marc Willems continue the family tradition and further expand the company.

1980s

Camelia becomes Willems Biscuits. A new name, the same artisanal biscuits.

1955

The first speculoos rolls off the production line. Initially, it is sold in the refillable tins that are common at the time. In the 1960s, the speculoos gets its own packaging.

1950

In a small factory in Ertvelde (East Flanders, Belgium), brothers Clement and Felix Willems begin a remarkable family story: the founding of the biscuit company Camelia.

Our product range

Our range highlights the many possibilities of Belgian speculoos. From the authentic biscuits and the popular spread to filled speculoos, crumble and more.

Speculoos

From large packages for retail to individually wrapped for foodservice, there is always a perfect speculoos.

Speculoos Spread

Fresh from the oven, we turn our speculoos cookies into a soft speculoos spread. Creamy or with crumbs for some extra crunch.

Filled Speculoos

We fill our speculoos cookies with a soft layer of cream filling, to add an extra dimension to our range.
